Definition:
- According to Advaita Vedānta, these texts only allude to Reality and do not teach creation per se. They explain how creation works only at the empirical level. By employing the method of Adhyāropa and Apavāda (prior superimposition and subsequent denial), these texts lead an aspirant from the known and the familiar to the unknown and the unfamiliar—i.e., to the Absolute (Brahman).
