Transliteration: Śruti
Translation: "what is heard; revealed scripture; direct assertion; Veda"
Definition:
  1. The Vedas are called the Śruti. They are the Hindu revelatory scripture. The Divine Word (Veda) which is "heard" by the Seer (Rṣi) constitutes the immemorial truth.
  2. It is divided into Bheda- and Abheda-Śruti.
