Transliteration: Sākṣi-Caitanya
Translation: "the witness consciousness"
Definition: "According to Advaita Vedānta, it is the awareness which underlies and supports all the states of consciousness. It pervades the waking, dreaming, and deep-sleep states. It is not a state like one of these three, but being omnipresent, it is the common denominator that runs throughout them.
